What seekter.dev collects when you visit: anonymous analytics through Google Analytics, and the requests every web host sees. The Seekter kit itself collects nothing.

This page covers the website, seekter.dev. The Seekter kit, the software you download and run on your own computer, is separate: it has no server and collects nothing, and its own note on where your data goes while it works is PRIVACY.md in the repository.

The site is made and run by selfishprimate, who is the one to ask about anything on this page.

What is collected when you visit

Analytics

The site uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. For each visit it records the pages you view, the page or site that sent you here, your device type, browser and screen size, and an approximate location (country and city) that Google works out from your IP address. Google Analytics does not keep the IP address itself.

To tell a returning browser from a new one, it sets two cookies on this site: _ga and _ga_ followed by the site's measurement ID. They hold a random identifier, not your name or anything you typed.

The site shows no ads and uses this data for nothing but understanding its own traffic. Google processes it under its privacy policy. The site does not ask for consent before setting these cookies, so if you'd rather not be counted, block cookies for this site in your browser, use a content blocker, or install Google's opt-out add-on.

The web host

The site is served by Netlify. Like any web server, it receives your IP address and browser details with every request, and keeps them in its logs for a limited time, as described in Netlify's privacy policy.

GitHub

The home page shows the repository's star and fork counts and the avatars of the people who starred it. Your browser fetches the counts from GitHub's API and the avatars from GitHub's servers, so GitHub sees those requests, under the GitHub privacy statement.

The public pages serve their fonts from seekter.dev itself, not from Google Fonts. The CV editor in the account area is the exception: it loads two fonts (Inter and Fraunces) from Google Fonts, so Google sees that request.

What is not collected

There are no forms, no newsletter, no comments and no accounts for visitors. Nothing you do here is sold, shared for advertising, or combined with data from other sites. Apart from the analytics cookies, the public pages store nothing in your browser.

The account area

The site has a sign-in area that is private: accounts are by invitation, and you can't create one. For those accounts, the site keeps the email address used to sign in, a name and avatar, and the CVs and cover letters saved there. They are stored with Supabase under its privacy policy. Signing in sets Supabase's session cookies, and the editors remember a few layout choices in cookies and in your browser's local storage.

Your choices

You can block or delete the analytics cookies at any time in your browser; the site works the same without them. The analytics are pseudonymous, so the site cannot look up what one person did. If you have an account and want to see or delete what it holds, or have any other question about this page, send a message.

Changes

If what the site collects changes, this page changes with it, and the date below is when it last did.
